Melissa V. Vergel de Dios is First Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer of PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications, Inc., leading the Group’s sustainability journey since November 2021. As head of the Corporate Sustainability Office, she drives ESG integration – embedding responsible, future-ready practices across the organization. Under her leadership, PLDT has strengthened its global ESG standing, including improved performance in major assessments and the inclusion of PLDT in the S&P Global Yearbook in 2025 and 2026.

Melissa currently serves as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the United Nations Global Compact Network Philippines (GCNP). She has been a member of the GCNP Board of Trustees since 2024, actively advancing the Network’s strategic priorities. Her contributions include supporting the planning of the 2025 GCNP Sustainability Summit, participating in Board strategy sessions, contributing to PLDT’s participation in the UN Leaders’ Summit through the SDG Accelerator Showcase, and representing the Network at the UN Global Compact Summit in New York. Prior to her election as Trustee, she also co-led—alongside Globe Telecom—the Planet Pillar of GCNP’s Private Sector Champions.
