Ms. Pyumi Sumanasekara is a Partner – ESG and Global Assurance at KPMG Sri Lanka, over 19 years with local and international experience across London, US, Asia, Europe and Middle East in advisory & Assurance for clients in various industries. She is the ESG Champion for KPMG Sri Lanka with expertise in ESG Advisory in Sustainable and finance reporting such as SLFRS, GRI. and TNFD. She is also a Fellow Chartered Accountant, ACMA, FRM®, and an NYU Stern-trained sustainability professional. She was recognized as a KPMG Global finalist for ESG leaderAward at the 2025 KPMG Global ESG Awards and was also honored with the “ESG Visionary Woman Award” at the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) Women Leadership Awards 2025.

She served as the Partner for the issuance of Sri Lanka’s first Integrated Assurance Report, first ESG Assurance Report, first Green Bond, first Blue Bond, and first GSS+ Bond. She plays a leading role in Sri Lanka’s ESG landscape, including SLFRS S1/S2 TNFD, GSS+ bonds finance policy development, and ESG Reporting. As part of KPMG’s Global Climate Change & Sustainability network, she has led major ESG transformation, governance, and assurance engagements both locally and internationally.

Ms. Sumanasekara is also a frequent speaker at public and regional client forums, both in Sri Lanka and internationally.
