Dr. Romesh Ranawana is the Group Chief Analytics and AI Officer at Dialog Axiata PLC, where he leads the organization’s Analytics and Artificial Intelligence strategy, driving enterprise-wide innovation through data, advanced analytics, and responsible AI. Holding a DPhil in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Oxford, he combines deep academic expertise with extensive industry experience to deliver AI solutions that create measurable business and societal impact.

In addition to his corporate leadership, Dr. Ranawana is the Founder of Enterprise Machine Learning (Pvt) Ltd, advising organizations across diverse sectors on AI adoption and digital transformation. His work spans telecommunications, financial services, environmental conservation, simulation technologies, and enterprise AI, including the development of Sri Lanka’s first enterprise-grade Generative AI chatbot.

A respected thought leader, Dr. Ranawana has played a significant role in shaping Sri Lanka’s AI ecosystem by chairing and serving on several national government committees focused on artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and technology policy. He has also served as Chairman of the National AI Committee and former Chairman of the SLASSCOM AI Centre of Excellence, contributing to national AI strategy, governance, talent development, and industry collaboration.

With 14 peer-reviewed international publications and years of experience bridging academia, business, and public policy, Dr. Ranawana is widely recognized for advancing the ethical and practical application of AI.
