Yasangi Randeni is a sustainability professional with nearly two decades of experience at Aitken Spence PLC. Throughout her career, she has played a key role in integrating sustainability into the Group's strategy and operations, leading initiatives spanning policy development, due diligence, environmental and social impact control, climate action, and sustainability reporting, while helping embed sustainability priorities into strategic decision-making and long-term value creation across a diverse portfolio of businesses.
An engineer by qualification, Yasangi has played an instrumental role in translating ambitious commitments into practical action across Aitken Spence. By working closely with teams across the Group to design strategies and implementation frameworks and strengthen internal capability, she has helped elevate benchmarks for business sustainability across the organisation. Her leadership contributed significantly to Aitken Spence becoming the only company in Sri Lanka to be ranked among the Top Ten Corporate Citizens for 19 consecutive years, including five Best Corporate Citizen Awards and entry into the Hall of Fame. Most recently, she led the Group's efforts to align with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), resulting in Aitken Spence becoming the first Sri Lankan conglomerate to secure validated science-based emissions reduction targets.
Yasangi has also played a pivotal role in strengthening the Group's sustainability reporting and disclosure practices. She established Aitken Spence's GHG emissions inventory, building it into a robust management and reporting system that supported the Group's SBTi commitment and target validation. Having been a GRI Certified Sustainability Professional, she was instrumental in aligning the Group's reporting with GRI Standards, championing the early adoption of the GRI Universal Standards, and helping prepare the organisation for SLFRS S1 and S2 reporting through the early integration of climate and disaster risk considerations into business processes.
As a City & Guilds Certified Trainer, and the first Distinguished Toastmaster from Aitken Spence PLC, she also works to advance knowledge on sustainability at all levels at Aitken Spence and outside. Yasangi also actively contributes to industry and multi-stakeholder platforms that advance sustainability, climate resilience, and responsible business practices in Sri Lanka. She heads the Business and Human Rights Working Group of the United Nations Global Compact Network Sri Lanka and represents Aitken Spence in collaborative initiatives focused on climate action, gender equality, water stewardship, and ocean sustainability. Her broader engagements include APAD-SL, the Sri Lanka Preparedness Partnership, and the Climate Committee of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
