I joined Elpitiya Plantations PLC in January 2007 as Manager – Engineering & Projects, heading the Engineering & Projects division. I hold a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, specialized in Electrical Engineering.
I hold a Master’s degree in Business Administration [MBA] from the University of Moratuwa, specialized in Information Technology. I have also successfully followed a distance-based MSc in Sustainable Energy Engineering programme of KTH University, Stockholm, Sweden. I participated for “The UN Winter School on Sustainable Consumption and Production in Asia and the Pacific”, a SWITCH Asia programme, representing Sri Lanka, in 2016. I have successfully completed the ‘Board Leadership Training Programme (2025/2026)’ which was conducted by Sri Lanka Institute of Directors. I have also successfully completed Business Strategy Specialization (2020/21), Darden School of Business, University of Virginia.
With over 25 years of post-graduation experience, mainly in the energy sector, I have been working with M/s Elpitiya Plantations PLC, as the Head of Engineering division since January 2007. In addition to my core engineering responsibilities, I played a key role in establishing the company’s IT Division in 2009 and the Business Sustainability Division in 2013. I also serve as the Director / Chief Executive Officer of M/s Ceylon Agro Food Technologies (Pvt) Ltd, which is a subsidiary Company of Elpitiya Plantations PLC and it’s Research & Development (R & D) arm.
I hold memberships of several professional bodies, namely, Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka (AMIESL), Sri Lanka Energy Managers Association (MSLEMA), Bio Energy Association of Sri Lanka (MBEASL), Certified Professional Managers (ACPM) of Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Institute of Directors.
I currently serve as the Chairperson of the Agriculture Sector Committee of Ceylon Chamber of Commerce since FY 2024/25 and a Member of the Steering Committee on ‘Economic Policy’ (for the year 2025/26).
I have been actively involved in developing the ‘Sustainability Strategy’, and ‘Growth & Transformation Strategy’ for the company. I provided strategic leadership in establishing new business ventures under Elpitiya Plantations PLC, including Renewable Energy, High-Value Horticulture, and Value-Added Products/Branding businesses, and it continues.
